Group 1 Winning Miler by New Bay
The check list for any prospective stallion would start with a strong pedigree and would include Stakes class form as a juvenile and Group 1 speed over a mile. Bayside Boy ticks all those boxes.
Officially the best miler to hit the track by the phenomenon New Bay, Bayside Boy showed a superb turn of foot to beat the Solario, Gimcrack and Cornwalis winners in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster as a two-year-old, before being placed in both the Group 1 Dewhurst and Futurity Trophy when not really enjoying much luck in running.
However, his crowning moment came on Champions Day in the QEII when he once again showed an amazing change of pace to come from well back to easily beat a strong field including three Group 1 winners.
Anyone who studies sectional times cannot have missed how fast Bayside Boy ran the final two furlongs at Ascot. He was much quicker than the top-class sprinter Kinross on the same day and was even faster than Baaeed over that last two furlongs in the same race the year before.
Of course a slow early pace helped Bayside Boy run so fast late on but only brilliant racehorses can do what he did at Ascot and he has all the ingredients needed to make up into a sire of the highest calibre.

“He showed a pretty exceptional turn of foot. From the two I was always going to get there and he really enjoyed chasing them down. He sailed home!”
